Is it illegal to Buy pets and feed it to your snake?

I know its nature but there can be a way without killing the helpless pet's.

I've saw disturbing videos in YouTube that shows people feeding pets to the snake's. They are so cute but they are getting eating by snakes.I would feed a snake dry food instead of eating pets your have brought!.Is it illegal or not?

Is it illegal to Buy pets and feed it to your snake?It is completely legal to buy animals to feed to snakes/lizards/birds of prey/reptiles/etc. In fact, there is an entire industry based on it.



a snake needs to eat. other animals are what snakes eat. therefore, snakes eat mice and rats, and rabbits, and chickens, and quail, guinea pigs, hamsters, lizards, other snakes, eggs, insects, etc etc.

The animals fed to the snakes aren't pets to the snake's owner. they're animals bred for the sole purpose of being fed to another animal. Yes, one can buy these animals as pets as well, but the person with the snake needs to feed their pet or it will die.



Snakes can't eat dry food because 1. it is not nutritionally complete and 2. snakes are not truly domesticated, and therefore will only eat what they eat in nature, and snake keepers consider themselves lucky if their snake will take mice and rats instead of amphibians, for instance, which are much harder to come by.



A more humane alternative to live feeders is, of course, frozen/thawed feeders, which are bred in labs specifically for reptile food, and are killed quickly and humanely with CO2 gas. The animals are well cared for until then.

It is just as cruel to interupt the cycle of nature as it is to feed mice to snakes.



As for your question, any responsible pet store will have those who are adopting pets fill out paperwork stating they will not use the pet for these purposes. There are mice that are bred specifically so that they can be fed to snakes.Is it illegal to Buy pets and feed it to your snake?It's legal since you're feeding a pet snake and they eat what imagineable things they eat that still fits their appetiteIs it illegal to Buy pets and feed it to your snake?
(Sigh) there are no laws. I hate it these people are stupid. My dad used to have 2 snakes ( boa constrictors) he fed them pet rabbits, and guinea pigs. SOOOOOO SAD!!! MY MOM MADE HIM GET RID OF THE BEFORE THEY GOT MARRIED!! THANK GOD! my mom said the rabbit was helpless and squealed and whimpered and was soo sad! I am so sad and i cry at the sight of any hurt or hungry or stray animal. i found a starving black kitten with hypnotizing green eyes. She is now a fat adorable cat named Linny. She is sitting with me on my lap as I type this and she is amazing and tears roll down my cheek as I think about those helpless animals dying right now because of someones careless irresponsible ideas.

In addition to all of the wonderful info equidae supplied, dry food doesn't mean humanely killed food. Research factory farms and see how kibble becomes kibble. In that regard, I consider feeding a humanely killed mouse to a snake a more thoughtful alternative!
