Do any of your pets have ticklish spots?

We humans can be quite ticklish sometimes. Some have ticklish bellies, others will laugh when the soles of their feet are tickled. Quite a few will chuckle when their pits are tickled. Some are not at all.

But what about animals? Do your pets have any ticklish spots?Do any of your pets have ticklish spots? My black lab has a ticklish spot on his belly near his legs. His leg just shakes and shakes :)Do any of your pets have ticklish spots?Lol! My cat Ninja and my Dog Voodoo have ticklish spots. For my cat, the fuzz between its back toes are ticklish, and for my dog, if I lightly rub my finger on the top of his ear it tickles him! lol! That's an awesome Question:)Do any of your pets have ticklish spots? My Fuzzy Lop bun, Machine Bun Kelly, loves to have her honches tickled! She shakes her little bum and it's hilarious! Is there really a need to dress pets?Is it right to prosecute pet owners who put clothes on their pets with animal cruelty?no pets do not need clothes, i find that soooo sad when some fool puts a coat on the little pippin in case he gets cold, THE DOG ALREADY HAS A COAT ! for gods sake ! lol

I think the pet clothes are adorable. I don't think it should be a daily outfit for your cat or dog. Tthere are some really cute Halloween costumes for dogs. Let, people have fun. To some people their pets are their children and they never had a chance to dress a child.

Is it right to prosecute pet owners who put clothes on their pets with animal cruelty?I have a short hair and long hai chihuahua. They enjoy their clothesatually, though I rarely dress them unless taking them out.

I don't do it to promote them as a fashion accessory, I'm actually an animal rights activist.

It just depends on each individual dog and whether or not they enjoy it. Plus, my short hair gets very cold, and likes her sweater to keep warm on a walk.

So no, it's not right. Is it right to prosecute pet owners who put clothes on their pets with animal cruelty?

I hate seeing dogs dressed up in 'hoodies' etc, good grief they have FUR, do they really need anything else on them.

Some dogs like greyhounds need coats to keep them warm, but they are specialised dog clothing.
I used to dress my shitzu until I realised it made me:

a) look gay

b) turned my dog into a manic depressive

c) feel uncomfortable as I'm sure my dog was planning a hit on me.Is it right to prosecute pet owners who put clothes on their pets with animal cruelty?
no, nor is there a need to carry them in your arms or even worse the little doggy handbags some women utilise

they are animals for christ's sake
In some cases yes - my friends greyhound NEEDS her pyjamas at night - poor dog literally shivers with cold.
Fair enough if the dog genuinely needs it, but I hate those dog fashion accessories.

  • What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?

My cat sucks on my t-shirts which always weirds me out. My dog is pretty smart and learned how to turn doorknobs all on her own.

What unique things can your pets do?What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?Well, animals have the weirdest sences to know what is wrong. My Dogs especally. My 4 year old beagle has a ruitine every night, She makes the rounds around the house and visits everyone, She tucks them in to bed. Late at night she will go around again and check that everyone is breathing.

My Red Bone is an expert at making people feel better. She can sence when someone is sad or hurt. She is the first one on the sceen. She will cuddle when you are sad, go get help if you are hurt, and stand guard if you are scare. She is an amazing dog.

Finally my brid Cassie, She is a monk parrott. She used to have a huge vocabularly, but she lost that as my youngest sister got older and took most of the attention. Well I will still take her out and play with her. She will only talk now if she thinks no one is listening. Well I had her out one day and I was laying on my bed talking to her and fell asleep. I woke up to someone saying kiss, kiss, and I feel a little bird beak on my lips. It was her talking. I was so proud of her. She had been quiet for so long, and then she woke me up with a kiss.

All of my animals are sweet and smart in their own ways. What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?
My parrot does three strange things:

    1. It likes to dance while the radio is on.

    2. It is mad about green, yellow and red fruits and vegetables and he's also mad about bread slices.

    3. It helps me eating the vegetables when I don't eat them. What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?my boxer opens the door for himself, pity hes not learned to close it:)What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?
I have a 13lb. tuxedo cat that likes to suck on fuzzy blankets. My other cat doesn't do that. Also, my calico-tabby mix likes to get wet when I'm in the shower. She stands there next to the tub and meows til I get her wet. She also likes to play fetch. My dog, she just likes to play with her toys and be silly. My sister has a male pug that likes to go to the park and swing in the baby swing. What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?One of mine figured out how to open our doors, and we have these weird metal knobs-not really knobs, like a latch that you use your thumb to push down to open the door(I hate them lol). It's actually pretty hard to do, and one dog figured it out, and lets them all escape into the house when they're soaking wet or full of mud.

One lifts up the toilet lid when he's thirsty, not really too unusual. And not really strange, smart or funny, but the one when she has gas, clears out the whole room-including herself...And the other, when he has gas, he lets out a little "puff" sound...and he always sticks his nose right to his hiney, like he's trying to figure out what it was, like expecting something to pop out....it's funny to watch, but really gross lol.
We have hardwood floors and my goldens lay down really funny-they sit and then slide down on their front legs to the floor. I didn't think it was odd until people pointed it out. Apparently most dogs don't do that! lol! They also snore like the three stooges, that "me me me me me" snore! Crazy girls..What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?
    My cat plays fetch o_O
My dog will not go near any mirrors or anything that he can see his reflection in, because he is scared to death of his reflection because he thinks it is another animal!!What's the strangest, funniest, or smartest thing your pets do?
my bullmastiff is a search and rescue dog as well as trained security dog but she is scared of balloons and umbrellas. kinda funny seeing a 120 pound mastiff thats a trained security that isnt scared off gun shots run like a baby from a balloon.
My Lovbird attacks me but she loves me a lot and she makes this farting noise when she sees me with an other bird indicating she is jealous, i think.
My dog can lock herself into rooms. Lol and she reads my mind when i am upset she is too
One of our mice is *terrified* of humans although we've had her for well over a year. We've tried making friends by offering her treats %26amp; she eventually worked up the nerve to quickly take food from my fingers-- but she squeezes her eyes closed before coming near me as if she either can't stand the sight of the giant hand or else she thinks that if she can't see me, I can't see her either.

Several of our rats take treats from us, run off to hide the treat, then return eagerly for more. Our hairless rat will run on her wheel until she works it loose %26amp; when it falls she comes %26amp; looks @ me b/c she knows I'll fix it for her. She doesn't just run on the wheel-- she hops, dances %26amp; leaps too.

As I'm typing this, I'm using 1 hand to play fetch with our kitten. 2 of our older cats used to play fetch also, but don't do it so often these days. Our oldest cat not only grunts %26amp; snort, he taught another of our cats to grunt %26amp; snort!

Probably the weirdest is our fish-- 3 of them make noise when they eat.

We used to have a cat %26amp; a ferret who would "lie" to use-- both of them would pretend to use the litter box (while someone was watching) so they'd get a reward.
if our cat is doing something naughty and i tell her "no" she meows then runs up and hits me on the back of my leg
my cat likes to lick plastic sacks and magazines, and likes my husbands ear wax
My oldest rat follows me around EVERYWHERE, but that's standard for a rat that's well taken care of. =)

    My cat turns knobs and pries doors open. We had to childproof the doors. %26gt;.%26lt;
I have a ferret who's obsessed with my wireless computer mouse and steals it if I leave it on my desk unattended while he's out. As I work from my home this has made work difficult at times ;)

MY DOG GOES IN HER CAGE WHEN TOLD SHELL EVEN OPEN THE DOOR WITH HER PAW, ITS CUTE!!
I taught my Boxer to poop in a plastic bag so her poop would never hit the ground so i didn't have to run my fingers through it as i was cleaning it off the ground.

My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel goes down the slide at the playground. She has been performing this trick since she was 10 weeks old. She is 2 years old now. She has learned to run up the stairs, run over to the slide and go down it all off leash. She will even go down the slide i tell her to go down as there are 2 slides at the top of the stairs. One on the right and one on the left. All i do is stand at the bottom of the slide to catch her when she comes down.

I once had a Lab/Shepherd mix that learned how to open the front door but turning the knob. I couldn't figure out how she was getting in the house when I'd put her outside to go to the bathroom. I watched her and she would actually jump up on the door and turn the knob with her paws. I eventually had to lock the door so she couldn't get in. It was the funniest thing to watch.

I also had a cat that thought she was a dog. Whenever we'd take our dogs for a walk she would always follow us. When we'd visit any of our surrounding neighbors she would follow us and sit at there front door waiting patiently for us to come out then she'd follow us home.

Another dog i had, an american Bulldog loved popping balloons. I would hide them all over the yard and he would sniff them out and pop every single one of them. He loved that game. Or i'd also tie a balloon to a tree branch and he'd jump up to pop it.
i throw away my tortoise at the river ,then 3 days later,i found my tortoise in front of my house wanted to get in from the gate but its too big,so i suprised how the tortoise can know how to comeback which the place i dump it is quite far,its about 3km? so i prefer to care it till now.it now with me for 11 yr.cool tortoise

Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?

On my street, there is a man who keeps a spider monkey as a pet. The moneky spends much of his time on a tree in his yard, and since the weather is usually miserable and cold, I can't imagine how the poor thing must feel. I know many animal lovers keep even larger and more dangerous animals as pets, like snakes, wild cats, hybrid breeds in the name of love or looking cool. There are also many animals that are NOt dangerous but are put in danger by having them in too small cages or giving them unsuitable food or in any other countless ways of little cruelties. What is your opinion? Should these animals be allowed as pets in cities?Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?Hi there...unfortunately, many people think it's alright to take exotics as pets without properly educating themselves far in advance on the animal's nature. We rescue so many of these exotic pets (mostly exotic cats) because people discover they cannot provide adequate housing, mental stimulation, appropriate dietary requirements, socialization if they are social animal like primates, acquired illegally, discover they can't legally keep the animal in their community because it's illegal and so much more. So much goes into the care of a captive animal and exotics are not for the inexperienced. Domestic pets are different as they've been bred for many generations that they do not survive without the means for man to provide. People believe if the take a wild animal while they're very young they can remove the wildness in them, but that's never true. It only makes the animal dependent on humans for survival, nothing more. They are wild through and through, but haven't "learned" to hunt because humans removed that opportunity. That's why exotics born in captivity are not suitable to be released into the wild since they have learned what their parents learned...people feed us.

Depending on where you reside many exotics are not allowed within city limits worldwide. Consider chequing your wildlife and animal control regulators regarding this as your neighbour could be breaking laws if it is illegal.Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?
No, wild animals are wild and should be left in the wild.Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?I would have to say no - its not the right environment for an exotic animal in the city. You see how sad that spider monkey is, its because he is not in his element. Think of it this way would anyone like to be adopted by a gorilla and kept in his habitat? I think not.... I think they should ban exotic animal import and export.Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?
many cities have laws against just such animals and they also can carry diseases. they dont belong in captivity and usually dont get a proper diet in that situation. your local humane society should be able to let you know if there are laws against wild animals as pets in your city.Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?absolutely not! i don't know if you've heard of this, but there are tiger and other ild animal attacks happening in villages all across the world. sometimes it's because some smart a** decided they wanted one, then that they couldn't care for it and let it go free (idiots) or because people are expanding into the animals' habitats. usually it is the second one. but the animals, because their habitat is being destroyed along with their food will attack peopel, becasue they ahve nothing left, and who gets blamed? the animal!!! wild aniamls are exactly that!! wild!! they do not belong in people homes, because people cannot care for them, that is the earth's job! if that poor monkey is in such poor conditions, you should call the humane society and have him taken away from the man. it will be better for the monkey's sake if you act, rather than sit back and wonder, no offense.Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?
wild animals should be just that, Wild! I don't belive that anyone should rip a wild animal from it's family and home.

I would love to have a "pet" skunk, but I wouldn't know how to raise it as a skunk. you know?!Do you think exotic animals should be kept as pets in cities?
There is nothing wrong with having exotic animals so long as they are looked after properly, regardless of where you live. I find it funny that everyone gets on their high horses about exotics - "snakes, lizards, etc should be in the wild!" Well where do you think hamsters, rabbits, budgies and goldfish came from - the supermarket? Why is it okay to keep those animals and not exotcis? How many of you are going to condone goldfish in the city?
Jason actually has an excellent point. I think you do have to curtail what people keep though, how many can really take proper care of a cheetah or a wolf and some morons give it a try though it doesn't happen as often any more. The smaller animals are more acceptable since they don't need as much room to be made comfortable.

The monkey may be fine out in the weather some can climatize quite nicely, I'm not going to pretend I know anything about spider monkeys though. Are you sure that is what it is? 'Cause if I don't miss my guess they are an endangered species and he wouldn't be able to keep one without a load of permits.

Is it unclean to wash your dishes with your pets dishes?

IS it unclean or sanitary to wash your own dishes with your pets if your washing them by hand?Is it unclean to wash your dishes with your pets dishes? No, most dishwashers get hot enough to kill all bacteria. I mean what the difference between a dog bowl and a cutting board used to cut up chicken? Is it unclean to wash your dishes with your pets dishes?
Yes, the bacteria from your pets mouths are in their dishes, and let's not forget animals lick their own privates! It would be okay in the dishwasher as the water is much hotter and drained away and rinsed, but when you wash by hand the water might not be hot enough to kill all the bacteria and it lingers in the washing up bowlIs it unclean to wash your dishes with your pets dishes?I don't see why not. They'll all be clean in the end. Plus, most of their food just has products that can be found in human food, so that shouldn't be a concern. Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder?

It seems like most of the pets that I've had have some form of separation anxiety. I'll leave for a few days and they lose their minds and then once I get back they won't leave me alone for one second giving me all sorts of kisses. Is this common?Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder? While my dogs are always excited to see me, they do not 'lose their mind' when I leave. As a responsible dog owner, I made it a point to socialize my dogs and also encourage them to be independent. So, when I leave town and they stay with someone else or at a kennel, they relax and enjoy themselves. When I leave them alone for part of a day, they entertain themselves with their toys. It isn't hard to teach a dog that it's OK when you aren't there. People who have problems with 'separation anxiety' in a dog have taught the dog to be overly dependent, or have encouraged a natural tendency that they had.Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder?
I know my doggies do. I think most animals do especially if they have a strong bond with their owners,Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder?I've had many pets over the years and it just comes down to what species it is and how much they like you. I know my snakes, lizards, or hedgehog never really noticed or cared but the dog and most of the cats I have had really got upset.Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder?
Its probably because you are not describing seperation anxiety.

It is irresponsible to leave your animals unattended for days at a time, and it is natural for your pets to react when you do leave them alone, and to be showering you with attention when you come home.

Most people would not leave their pets alone like this so their pets would not display any of these 'seperation anxiety' behaviours.Do most pets have separation anxiety disorder?Yes pets like humans has separation anxiety. In short they don't want to be left alone for a long time. I suggest you before leaving to give them something that would distract their attention like a toy bone if you have a pet dog.

How do I rent a house in Melbourne with pets?

I'm moving to Melbourne in a few months, and I have a dog. I've had a look on www.realestate.com.au and there hardly seems to be a rental property with pets allowed. What do people with pets in Melbourne do? Do you lie to the real estate about having a pet? How do real estates seem to react to pets? What's a good way to find private rental houses? How do I rent a house in Melbourne with pets?We have the same problem in the UK and especially in the south.

It is for this reason I'm afraid that rescue will not give to people who are renting, and many breeders will also not sell to those renting.

Unfortunately, and I really mean that, it is not easy to find a house because animals and especially dogs do make a mess of houses by chewing woodwork, scratching floors etc and people don't want it.

It is one of the main reasons for dogs coming into rescue in the first place.

All the best, I do hope you find somewhere, but I really don't think lying is the answer. How do I rent a house in Melbourne with pets?
Search websites such as rent.com for rental houses that allow pets, and also search realtors that are pet friendly. Any realtor will know whether a property allows pets, which is a head start. Often the best approach is to drive up and down streets in a neighborhood that you are interested in and take down the phone numbers of houses that have "for lease" signs.

Look for a house with a fenced or gated yard. Your dog will have a place to exercise which may lessen the chance of him doing damage inside.

Keep an eye on the dog when he's out in the yard and observe any areas where he starts to dig holes or dig up plants. Section off these areas with wire mesh held up by metal posts. It's simple and inexpensive, which is what you want for a rental. If possible, provide him with his own digging area and cover it with loose soil or sand. How do I rent a house in Melbourne with pets?Call the lanlord and ask them. Don't lie. You are going to have to check with the person you rent the house from. Some will allow dogs and some will not.How do I rent a house in Melbourne with pets?Ask the landlord if they rent to people with pets.

Question about Vet clinic practices on holding deceased pets before removal or incineration?

This is not something that I have ever before thought of, but an off date visit to the vet for pills led me to wonder this. Our usual visits take place in the early summer, but the late spring visit I made shocked me. The smell of death, dead, decomposing animals, was overwhelming!!!!! Our recent visit was fine. Smelled disinfected and clean, like usual. What is the procedure for the pets bodies that are not removed by the owner once they are deceased?Question about Vet clinic practices on holding deceased pets before removal or incineration? The bodies are placed in a freezer and are either put on hold for a few days (for the owner to make a decision on what to do with the remains). or are picked up by a pet crematorium service for either communal or private cremation (depends on the owner's request).Question about Vet clinic practices on holding deceased pets before removal or incineration?depends on vet i would guess.Question about Vet clinic practices on holding deceased pets before removal or incineration?Generally speaking, if it's anything like a pet shop, they will be put in a freezer- it could be a 'human style' one like a morgue with drawers, but more likely- and more morbidly- it would be an actual chest or walk in freezer, depending on the size of the vets.

They wouldn't just leave bodies lying around in a warm, empty room.Question about Vet clinic practices on holding deceased pets before removal or incineration?
I would guess the bodies get picked up and taken to an incinerator and the vet waits until he has a few corpses before calling the driver. I live in the UK and we have a pet crematorium not too far away where these poor animals are cremated at the end of what I hope has been a good life with a loving family

  • Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?

I always laugh when I see Christian pet owners with their little dog at the park and some other dog will come along and start humping it. The look of horror and embarrassment on their face as they try to separate the dogs is priceless. Why can鈥檛 they let their pets have fun? Why do they force a repressive lifestyle of denial and meaningless sacrifice on their pets as well as themselves?Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?Arrogance. Self righteous indignation. Projection. Take your pick.Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?
    Sacrifice? --huh?

Most of the time, Dogs are not having sex for FUN, that is a human projection. They are excited and iresponding to stimuli - which triggers them to hump. But more destructively, they ALSO do it to establish dominance. It is an aggressive move to hump a fellow male dog. Aggressive behavior at a dog park or on the street should NOT be tolerated by the owners. It can cause fights.. which can generate expensive vet bills.

Secondly, some owners don't like that.. so you are taking OTHER people's feelings into consideration when you break them up.

Thirdly, not EVERYONE at the Dog park, has their pets fixed. You DO realize this..right?

Some of them are puppies and the owner hasn't gotten them fixed yet. Secondly some people keep their dogs in heat, hoping to breed them. -- Now WHY these people then bring their dog to the park.. I don't know. But suffice to say, it is incredibly naive and presumptuous to ASSUME that all the dogs are fixed therefore they can hump away.

FOURTH, and most importantly.... some dogs don't LIKE this and they can feel intimidated by a dog that humps them. Fights can break out because of this. Sometimes males get excited and hump each other.. which often times does cause a fight.Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too? You're the creeper park person that runs around asking dog owners if they are Christian or not?

Anywho...My dog is not a humper, but he is a buttlicker.

I discourage that on the basis that it is gross, especially since the dog tries to sneak a lick of my hand from time to time.

You might feel different about the little humpers if it were your leg that they were after rather than some other dog.Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?
dog humping is about dominance, and you are supposed to discourage it

read the manual that came with the dogDo Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?Their own sexual repression has far worse impacts on society than separating a few fornicating felines.
my dog is a lesbian, or maybe she just loves humping other bitches, maybe its a girl thing. i hear that the females are much more likely to show dominant mannerisms.Do Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?
If they have the female dog perhaps they don't want to be strapped with a bunch of unwanted puppies.
Funny some people might call that being responsible.....considering how many dogs and cats we are killing every dayDo Christian pet owners try to force their sexual morality on their pets too?
They probably don't want puppies. My Christian friend Penny has a gay dog, and she's OK with it, until he tries to hump men (like me).
So there you have it, No Chance without Jebus says enforcing xian morals on pets is a good thing.
    Troll alert.
No, it just looks really wrong?

Well, we understand there animals ..... wait a second it's not just christians that do this your stereotyping.
maybe if they are not getting any neither should their pets lmao
I wish I could pray enough to get my cat to stop dragging his butt across the carpet. It's sinful!

How many pets have you had throughout your whole life?

    and what were they?

I've had 2 wonderful cats in the past and currently have 1 mean cat and 1 happy-go-lucky dog. I also have 7 tropical fish, which are doing much better than expected. So, I guess that makes a total of 11 pets in my lifetime (so far). How many pets have you had throughout your whole life?Total: 31 chickens, 5 fish, 1 gerbil, 2 horses, 8 dogs, 8 cats, 1 goat.

    = 56

    3. 2 dogs and 1 cat
    3.

I had a half husky/half chow named Annie who was a really good hunter. When I lived in Moreno Valley, she killed possums all the time. But, I moved to my grandparents' house for 10 months and my grandpa couldn't stand her. So we had to give her to the animal shelter, and since she was 7 years old, they had to put her down.

Then I had a black lab named Brooklyn who was so fun and hilarious. She always tore stuff up when we blared speed metal at home. We had to give her away because she was too wild for a house without a backyard.

Now I have a 9 week old toy poodle named Buttercup (I didn't name her) and she is a trip. But she's cool.
well i had 3 hamsters cinnamon.frisky and suger

    and i cat lilly

and than 2 anoles lacy and macy

i had to keep some nasty cockroaches for a friend (6)

    and a hedgehog named daisy

oh my, well, i'm 30 years old and have cats all my life, usually more than one at a time, and i'd estimate i've had around 20 to 25 cats over the years -- i lived in the country, the coyotes got them :-( i've only had one dog though, dozens of rodents and fish. one iguana, 5 geckos, 3 other random kinds of lizards, and on and on and on... i'm such a softie for animals! oh yeah and 3 snakes!
    1Mouse- when 7

    2 cats when teen

    1 dog early 20's

    6 rats

    1 iguana

    1 savannah monitor

    2 dogs

    1 cat

    2 birds

    1 guniea pig

    5 hamsters

    approx 100 tropical fish

    15 saltwater fish

various saltwater crabs starfish and shrimp maybe 20

    I think that's all
    In all.. Three dogs.

    Four birds.

    like 5 fish.

    1 guinea pig.

    That's it.
i had lots of pets i cant remember half of them right now i have eight 2 cats, a dog,a rabbit,a chinchilla, and 3 sugar gliders

Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?

It's something I heard a while ago that the more you hold pets when they are babies growing up the friendlier and more they will like to be held as adults they will become. Is this true?Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?yes, you are essentially conditioning them to accept human touch as they would their own species were they in the wild. be careful though, too much handling can cause them to grow into whiny, spoiled adults, just like humans who are handled too much as babies. Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?
Yes, caus they're used to it by then.Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?lol... it's true. Just don't let them get used to it too much. They will become needy and you'll have immense problems - such as trying to leave them at home by themselves. Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?
While there is such a thing as touching an animal too often and causing it stress, yes, in general the more interaction we have with pets, and the more trust we instill in them, the friendlier and more holdable they become. We see that even with wild animals, lions even, who, when raised lovingly and attentively by two humans, are still extremely sociable with them as adult lions.

The key to keeping people and their pets together safely is to make sure that, when children are present, their interactions are supervised and to teach children how to handle and respect cats. Do not let your anyone mistreat the family pet. Live animals are not stuffed animals! Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?Yeah, sometimes, the more trainning and more socialation the better they are as adults, sometime though if you hold an 8week old puppy too much though, like for example a labrador puppy, they want to be carried all the time as adult %26amp; you don't want to be carrying an adult labrador around? and yeah when you consistently carry a puppy around, its hard for them when you suddenly leave.

They need to be treated as dog, but with respect, there not human babies, but puppies are babies and need to learn to respect humans.

Its more trainning and handling that makes them friendly rather than ignoring them or picking them up consistently! Is it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?
YESIs it true that the more you handle pets when they are babies the friendlier and more holdable they will be?
I think so!! All my pets are really affectionate, and none of them are biters. My dog is 8, and has never bitten anyone. One girl I was working with at the time got my dog's sister, and that dog turned out MEAN!! They ended up giving that dog away because they said it wasn't nice, but they just didn't spend enough time with it, I don't think. I also have a cat, and 2 gerbils, and they're great. Even the gerbils let me hold them and love on them, and never even a hint of trying to bite, or even to get away when I hold them. The cat is the clown, lol.....she 'talks' to me the most.

I used to work with horses, and some of them were young male horses in training (uncut, and with attitude!), and this one stud used to try and intimidate me whenever I cleaned his stall, but I wasn't having it, and I read through what he was trying to do, lol...so I just kept doing what I had to do, and telling him to knock it off when he tried to bully me, and giving him hugs (he was TALL!!), and then he started expecting the hugs when I came in the morning. What a great horse.

Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?

i was reading a book and i also heard of other people who did that, proble in the greate depression or earlier. they would usually kill the pets after they mother had baby's and they didnt want all the kiddies. any one know why they didnt just shoot or stab the kiddies or even sell the kiddies? Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?It wasn't just individuals who would drown the animals. Before there were animal cruelty laws enacted, law enforcment would gather all the strays and place them in an enormous cage filled with dozens of animals and hook it to a crane lowering it into the rivers off the docks. When I attended a seminar a couple of years ago the pictures were shown on the big screen. Pictures I'll never forget.

Thank goodness we can now prosecute them...if we catch them. I would like to do the same to the people, however...Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?
It was an easy way to get rid of them. in the depression people didn't have the money to buy and feed pets. People felt that drowning pets was better then letting them loose so they could starve to deathWhy did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?b/c they are stupid! believe it or not people still do this today!!! MAKES ME SICK!!Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?
beacuse they are idiots and they are sick! havent they ever heard of an animal shelter? yes some are full but i bet they could have found one that could spare some room! Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?drowning was quick, easy and humane way of disposing of the offspring
I don't think they should have done anything to the kittens. Those who did couldn't have shot them, for during the Great Depression people couldn't afford guns. Many may not have wanted to stab them because of the blood and because they might have thought drowning them was easier. During those times, you couldn't just put an add in the paper saying free kittens, so I think that's why. It's an inhuman, sad thing but that's reality. So many sick people don't care about animals and those people have issues too!Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?
    to count the bubbles
It's a lot harder to shoot/stab something to death -- and bleeding to death is slower than suffocating. That's why it seems more humane. My grandmother, who was born shortly before the great depression, still lived on her farm about 5 years ago, when I got a phone message from her saying that she had drowned the kittens. She tied a rock around them and put them in a tub of water. It was sad for me to hear, but for her, it is just life/survival. Personally, I have two cats that I'm very attached to, but I know that they can reproduce at exponential rates. Even now there are too many pets and not enough people to adopt them. That is why so many are euthanized at humane societies. Get your pets NEUTERED OR SPAYED!Why did people used to drown there pets when they didnt want them?
I understand this was done as an act of kindness to the animal so that it didn't go hungry or become a nusiance. I assume someone felt like it was more human to drown them than to stab them and if money was a problem shells are quite expensive. Responsible pet owners for a small fee can have their pet spade which is the kindess thing. No matter what kind of animal, they are all part of a wonderful miracle, I would hope all animals would find good homes and all pet owners would be as devoted to their pet as the pet is to them.
Used to?? Sorry... this still happens. People do all sorts of cruel things to animals they don't want. Drown 'em, shoot 'em, dump them in the woods somewhere... the list goes on.

It's sad. Way back when, I would say it's largely because spay/neuter wasn't an option (some towns didn't even have doctors, much less vets!)... but since it still happens... clearly a lot of it is just that some people have very little respect for life.
it is still more common then you realize

  • Do Koalas and cats get along as pets?

I live in New Zealand, and like the idea of populating my house with a few more cuddly animals alongside my already sizable cat population.

I especially like Wallabies (apparently, not cat-compatible because of their susceptibility to the cat-borne toxoplasmosis threat), butter gliders, and Koalas.

Has anyone got experience with cats and koalas as pets in the same house?Do Koalas and cats get along as pets?If obtained when they are very young koalas have been tamed and have become very affection pets. A couple in Australia raised a pet from the time it was three months old. In order to comfort the cub they would place a piece of koala fur tied around a pillow and placed alongside her in a basket as a substitute for her mother. Eventually as she got older she became very attached to humans and hated being left alone. This can become a nuisance.

The rapid loss of their habitat is threatening the Koala population. When Koalas become upset and worried ("stressed") by the loss of their homes, they may get a disease called "Chlamydia", which can blind them and is common in cats.

Koalas have very strict dietary requirements. Aside from the Greater Glider and the Ringtail Possum, the Koala is the only other mammal with a digestive system that can feed solely on eucalyptus leaves - incidentally, these leaves are highly poisonous if eaten by humans. There are about 600 varieties of eucalyptus trees. Koalas feed on only about 120 of these.

So it is possible to tame them, but you should be aware that it is illegal to have them as pets. However for some reason, there are several groups of people who are trying to get the law changed so that they can keep them as pets. Although this is probably very unlikely to happen. The Koala bear is now actually a protected animal. For a short period of time they were actually hunted, and some people still try to keep them as pets. However there are very severe penalties for anyone who may try.Do Koalas and cats get along as pets?
From what I have heard, Koala's can be very aggressive. You might want to contact a local zoo or whomever you may be buying from %26amp; ask if they might pose a hazard to your cats, yourself, %26amp; any family/friends that would be in frequent contact with it. I would also suggest you do a ton of research before you proceed, because it's not a common animal to have as a pet, so if you do end up with one %26amp; find that it isn't working out, you may have a harder time getting rid of it.Do Koalas and cats get along as pets?Is that even legal? I know it's not in the US, and according to Wiki, you have to have a permit to keep one as a pet in Australia. Not sure about NZ, but I'd assume it might have a similar law as Australia. Even if you could get one with a permit, would you be able to care for it? Where would you purchase one? I somehow doubt they're going to let the average joe just keep a wild animal as a pet.Do Koalas and cats get along as pets?

Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?

Before you laugh, this is a serious question... I can't afford real pets and feel rather lonely in my vast delapidated estate.. So before I start fumigating and poisoning the varmints again I am considering domesticating them instead.Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?Yes you could recruit them as minions.... build little chariots for battle and arm them like in Ben-Hur and they will shout in glee...Stooge! You've come back to us like a returning faith! Oh Stooge, I should like to laugh again. Let us laugh! and then the most notorious line...Stooge is back!

The keeper of the light! All hail S! All hail S! Oh S can you see by the dawn's early light.........Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?
i know that people keep cocaroaches, but usually they keep the big ones [madagascarian hissing] but i dont see why you cant keep small ones, just keep them in an aquariam and feed them just about anything. termite, ivenever heard of people keeping as a pet...not sure how that would work eitherDo cockroaches and termites make good pets?yes on Blattella germanica, no on termites...

had some limited success in training my roaches, never got anywhere with termites... they seem attracted to my brain, they seem to think it is food...

taught my roaches to march to music of Sousa, and twirl batons... they also fart and belch on command...Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?
i saw on the discover channel yesterday where they battered them up and fried them and put them on shewers as appetizers. UMMM free food.Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?Yes...here's an American that is loved across the pond. This collection has a GREAT cockroach story.

    Ofcourse!!

As long as you can keep up with a perfumed room....... sorry ... i mean odour!!

And a nice blanket and mattress you and their group can share!!

Feed them with your clothes and a bit of your flesh!

they can also provide a wholesome diet when you get fed up with those "Nice Pets"!!

If you doubt this infor., ask Osama!

He made them his companion when he was first declared "WANTED"!!

Anyway the guy detonated them when he got fed up with the all consuming "Nice Pets"!!

In your case, I suggest you get Jack鈩?handy!

I was informed he is the only one who makes use the nuclear weapons!!

Because Once you breed the lot, funmigation will just be like a perfumed spray to them!Do cockroaches and termites make good pets?
From what I have heard, all the finer crack houses keep a few,.. thousand,....

Perhaps maybe mice? They are actually very affectionate, cute, can learn their names and to do tricks. They are also cheap. Alas, they may snack on your roaches tho,...

Why are some children horrible to pets?

I know there are always a handful of kids who are just nasty. But why do nice friendly kids seem to not be able to help themselves %26amp; tease pets? It's like when they're in a group they get crazy. Really p's me off. And how should you tackle it? Of course you explain about respect, being nice %26amp; not hurting others etc etc. But what if that doesn't work? My aunties kid age 3.5 is a lovely lad, mischevious but not bad %26amp; has never hit anyone. I found him throwing pebbles at my pup %26amp; to make it worse my two (age 3 %26amp; 4) were laughing their heads off at it. Fuming, I told them off %26amp; told them why %26amp; how that makes the pup feel etc etc. They all looked mighty sorry %26amp; apologised to me %26amp; pup. But then yesterday I found him throwing apples and once again my two found it hilarious.

How can you drum it in to them that it's wrong? Was so tempted to chuck pebbles back at him to show him how it feels but he's only 3.Why are some children horrible to pets?I agree that kids do this out of a need for control, so putting him in charge in a positive way would probably help. If he still continues to abuse the animal, just switch up the golden rule to fit your stiuation. "If you can't do something nice, then don't do anything at all" and no longer allow the kids to be by the puppy till they can think of nicer ways to play with him. This would be the nice approch, it depends on how the kids react. I had some problems similar and it seemed like nothing worked except me being a ***** to say the least.

My bfs 5 year old used to tease the dogs by holding food in front of them and then laughing at them as she stuffed her face. She also used to think it was funny to zip the cat up in the suit case. Well, I tried talking to her and it didn't work. So one day I treatened to zip her in a suit case, where I explained it was dark and she wouldn't be able to move, and she never did it to the cat again. ( though I got lucky because that was a big bluff, I could never really do that). And as for the dogs, I served her favorite dinner one day and held her food above her head telling her how good it smelled and then sent her to the other room with a P%26amp;J sandwich. Some people might think those tactics were mean, but if she can't understand through words then she might just need to know how it feels. myself and my family do not tolorate any kind of abuse towards animal. I wouldn't advise throwing things at him, but you could tell him that it hurts and if you catch him again you just might do it.Why are some children horrible to pets?
When it comes to pets, the kids need just as much training as the animal.

Instead of focusing on how the puppy "feels" tell the boys that it's very dangerous - the dog could bite them in self-defense. Have a talk with their mom and keep everyone separate for awhile. Good luck! Why are some children horrible to pets?Children have not yet developed the emotion/skill of empathy which allows us to 'feel' for others. It is different than sympathy because whereas sympathy allows us to pity and feel sorry for a person, empathy actually lets us feel the emotions/pain/joy another person is feeling.

One may think he or she feels empathy as a child, but true empathy develops in the prefrontal cortex of the brain around 20 years of age.

I always thought I was very empathetic as an adolescent, but after I hit 18, there was a very noticeable difference in the degree of my empathy. Where it was strong before, now, I sometimes break down just thinking of another person in a painful situation. Why are some children horrible to pets?
I hate to say this but it really doesn't get much better. My son is 16 and teases our cat, although he doesn't actually throw anything at her, he's constantly jumping at her and chasing her and picking her up, and she's an old lady!

I guess my only advice is to keep telling him that this is hurting the puppy and that he doesn't want to do that. If you can just get your two to not laugh, he'd more than likely stop doing it. I know, easier said than done! Why are some children horrible to pets? They hurt the pet... you hurt them...

    regardless of age.

    may make sense to them.

note people who start on animals move on to people.

All psychopaths started with cruetly to animals... humans are more fun

so the words nip in bud come tpo mind
Kids can be evil. A friend of ours brought her five year old daughter to our house and she thought it was fun to hit my German Shepherd.

I told her first that if she ever did it again I'd let him bite her then I'd never let her come to my house again and she was lucky she wasn't getting a smack. She's been here many times since and she's never hit him again.

You'll just have to keep on at him and those who are laughing at what he does until they understand what cruelty is.Why are some children horrible to pets?
I've a large rock that I would like to throw at that child; and his parents. The more I get to know animals the less I like humans.
They dont have much power in life so I think it is an attempt to feel strong...a good way round it would be to make him "Puppy Monitor" or "Head Puppy Carer" maning that he is in charge of keeping pup safe and happy. reward him for being nice to the Puppy. Why are some children horrible to pets?
Children hardly know how to wipe themselves after using the toilet. how are they meant to know these things? Because we teach them....did your parents teach you how to walk, talk, eat dinner at the table? Well parents should also teach their children how to treat animals. Sometimes children don't always listen and they misbehave. Like the underage binge drinkers in Brixton....
kids often mimic adults that surround them selves and if not checked when they misbehave they assume (wrongly most times ) that it is an acceptable way to act ! the trouble is if this child continues to be cruel to animals then he is going to get bitten, mauled or worse and a animal is going to be destroyed because of it !! have a word with your aunty about it and voice your concerns and just because he is 3-4 doesnot mean he cannot be reprimanded for his actions! good luck!
Take a switch to that @ss! Then ask him how it feels and that that's the way he makes the puppy feel. Tell him everytime he gets caught doing wrong that he's gonna get it again! By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!

In all my years spent dealing with human beings I have realized that some people are good from day one and some are just bad rotten apples. The only way to deal with the bad ones is shear terror and sometimes brut force. Unfortunate but true.

  • What's the cheapest place in Tagaytay to stay that allows dogs/pets as well?

We're 2 persons + 2 Labradors and we intend to join a Dog show this coming 17th and 18th. We'll be traveling on the 16th so we'll have one day for rest. It's hard to find a place that allows pets and we don't want the trip to be a hassle for us nor our dogs. Hope someone could give us some suggestions. What's the cheapest place in Tagaytay to stay that allows dogs/pets as well?I'd recommend you use tripadvisor at www.tripadvisor.com

I used it on my recent trip to Davao for a wedding and it helped me decide where to stay. Just type in "tagatay, philippines".

Good luck finding a place that will allow your dogs. Maybe one day we will have more pet friendly hotels here.

So far in my travels I have only found one place that allows pets. In Guimeras it's Villia Igang. What's the cheapest place in Tagaytay to stay that allows dogs/pets as well?Try asking the promoters of the dog show about places to stay. Whats the benefits of getting my pets neutered?

i have two dogs and want to know the benefits of getting my pets nuetered, anything bad about it? medical condtions?Whats the benefits of getting my pets neutered?I don't necessarily believe you should always neuter. First off, saying that you want your dog neutered so he wont get testicular cancer is like saying Im going to have my breasts removed to prevent breast cancer.

I keep my dog intact but I am responsible and don't let him be loose with female dogs that are in heat. He is very well behaved, not aggressive, even with other intact males because I have worked with him lot. By the way, just because you keep him intact doesn't make you a breeder.

On the other hand, if you want to prevent accidents or if you feel uncomfortable having an intact dog, neuter. If you are going to neuter wait until your dog is fully matured so he will have some male hormones in his body. People don't think about the fact that dogs will suffer from hormonal imbalances just a woman will after that type of surgery, only we don't provide hormones to the dogs after surgery.

If you decide not to neuter, please be responsible.Whats the benefits of getting my pets neutered? The most obvious one, so your dog don't knock up other dogs. You help prevent unwanted puppies and that's the best reason.

Also I believe there are medical and behavioral benefiots too such as less chance of having certain diseases, live longer, less likely to mark, less dominant, less aggressive, less hyper etc.Whats the benefits of getting my pets neutered? If you are not going to be breeding your dog, you should have him neutered. Neutering male dogs ultimately makes them calmer and less dominant. They will be less likely to mark objects when urinating. Without their testicles, there will be no concern for testicular cancer, and they will have a healthier prostate. This isn't all that important, but neutering dogs makes their urine less stinky.

Not neutering your dog can cause him serious harm. If you aren't planning on using him for breeding, and you leave him intact, you are putting him at risk for a shorter life, and a list of medical conditions.Whats the benefits of getting my pets neutered?
    Benefits:

    Limits aggression

    Limits domination tendencies

    Prevents testicular cancer

OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?

    I mean, really?

In the past hour, there have been 2 questions on here about dogs that have been accidentally been poisoned by eating a poisoned rat.

Why would you have the poison in the home with pets? Dogs usually eat stupid things, and slow moving, poisoned rats are stupid things!!!

Do people not understand that there are many other better and safer methods of ending rat problems? Glue boards, snap traps, live catch traps and exclusionary treatments.

So why do people put their pets in risk???OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?I dont know. Trapping works so much better, in my opinion. I'm not really sure how rat poison works, because honestly, I have never used it.

Not only that, but they are putting their kids in danger...what if a toddler got into the stuff? Or was bit by one of these rats?OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?
That's what I asked myself when I read that question. Why would you let your dog get a poisoned rat - let alone twice!

Dogs get into anything and everything. They are like children - they don't know better. I tell my husband anything the dog can reach is fair game for her to chew on or eat. Pick it up!

Cleaners, chemicals, lawn fertilizers, weed killers, types of mulch, types of flowers, insecticides, ant traps, rat traps, pools, human foods gosh the list goes on. Summer is not a safe time for pets. People need to think about there well being - especially now in summer time.OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?My uncrateable Dobe ate the glue boards and the mice refused the snap traps so I went to poison and none of the dogs ever ate the dying mouse. But I went outside with the dogs and found him. My dogs were used to living with hamsters, mice, guinea pigs and birds so it was unlikely they would have eaten a wild one. My g/f and her hubby also used poison with their several dogs w/o a problem.OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?
    I have no idea.

The glue traps and snap traps aren't much safer. I was at the vet once, and overheard a lady telling the receptionist about her dogs injury, the dog had stepped on a snap trap and it fractured her foot. My neighbor now swears off glue traps because her kitten got stuck on one and it ripped the skin off of its tail.

I think its best to get rid of a rat via humane trap. It keeps everyone safe and happy.OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?i lso love some of the answers... i read one where a girl was questioning her recipie she made for her dog, ad someone answered, "if she loved it, then its fine!"

well, dog's LOVE antifreeze, but its lethal!!! i dont know why ppl arent more careful, but that would mean i was the pot calling the kettle black... i had a message on here about how may raisins were too many.... after my dog got into 1 oz of choc covered raisins.. some ppl forget, like me... i am not by any means condoning these actions, but, we are, after all, only human! i am quite sure these ppl will be more careful in the future and i hope their dog is ok... sometimes, you have to learn the hard way.. however, if it were their child, they'd be reported to dcf.. so, hhmmm.. i just dunno
Sometimes they don't realize until it is too late. other times, the rat could have come from being poisoned by the neighbors. People are only human, and mistakes will happen. The thing that is angering is why they would come online to ask what to do rather than driving directly to a vet for immediate treatment.OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?
The 3 questions I saw, were all from the same person. Sounds like a kid--the parents did take the dog to the vet after the 1st question, the kid sounded totally panicked in the other questions.

I have no idea what people think when putting out poisons. We had a neighbor that put mouse bait out, and was confused to see her cat dead in her yard the next day.
Well, some folks do not know better and now they do..I just hope the dogs are okay and they think long and hard about what is in and around there homes before letting a pet to their own devices! Many people do not focus on plants and things of that nature either..But I hope some of us learn and the dogs are okay!OK, explain to me why people will have rat poison around their house when they have pets?
OK. I thought I was the only person ignorant to the HUGE rat problem that could only be solved by leaving rat poison laying around. Besides today's poison rat snack, I've seen way too many lately who's dogs have actually consumed the poison %26amp; what should they do???? Grrrrrrr...........
    Good question.

I don't put my pets at risk. I use the regular old traps with peanut butter on them and hide them where the dogs can't get to them.

Although others have made valid points. The snap traps or other traps could seriously hurt a dog.
I think they assume their little doggies know better than to eat the poisoned rats. It's closely related to the "dogs are people in fur suits" thinking, or it's just ignorance.

    Also, it's just plain SAD.
Actually three questions - same person.

Responsible owners don't put their pets at risk, though accidents do happen.

Common sense is so hard to find these days!
I have read the same questions and totally agree with you. My cousin's dog went blind from eating that stuff. I guess a lot of people in this world are very ignorant.
They think their animals are smart I guess
Luckily I don't have neighbors who will poison rats... otherwise I'd have to scan my yard EVERY time I let the dogs out.

In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?

I'm asking about animals that are actually sold and kept as pets, not wild animals like lions, tigers, and bears. (Oh my!)

Have you ever had a certain kind of pet that you would never get again? In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?pet rock

oh and slavesIn your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?
well in some states this is illegal to have ferrets but not mine........NEVER AGAIN WILL I HAVE ONE=]In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?tortoise - absolutely pointlessIn your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?
All pets are are good including lions, tigers and bears. In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?Iguanas.. mostly because very few people are fully prepared for a 6 foot long pet when they get them as babies.. so many are discarded later in life.. or suffer because of lack of proper care/housing..

Hamsters - most people who get them are disappointed.. bited or angry that they are kept awake at night by these nocturnal pets...

very few animals Benefit from being pets like cats and dogs do.. most are kept in boring undersized cages...
the worst pet would have to be a stick insect i mean com on just go and lift a stick from the back garden put it in a jam jar entertainment value duh priceless :-)In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?
    Ferret.

They STINK...they're too fast and running around crazy all the time..

They have to 'backup in a corner' to go potty---yes there are special litter boxes for them. %26amp; I know there's a powder you can apply to their fur that will counteract their odor...but, I personally feel this is too much trouble %26amp; expense to go to for something so unpredictable and illusive (which they are).

I can get my animal love from the likes of other pets thank you! That's my 2 cents worth, and I'm stickin' to it.
well really it depends on what kind of animals you like accually because i have a cat and i love it.but really i love cats and dogs.but i am going to tell you right know dont get a hamster lol.they are annoying at night and you cant sleep.i hope this helped a little bit.

脺.In your opinion, what animals make the worst pets?
There really is no worst pet, but, there are pets that aren't good for the majority of the public.. While anyone could keep an iguana if they did their research, most people just don't research at all..

The only pet I can think of that I've had that I would never get again is a parakeet.. Though, in my defense I did not go out and buy the parakeet, someone left them in a cage in my front yard.. I could never get them to eat a healthy pelleted food, I could never get mine to eat fruit or veggies, all they would eat is awful unhealthy seed. They had plucked themselves bald with the previous owner and I couldn't break them of the habit.. Overall they were very frustrating to keep as they hadn't been socialized and couldn't be handled.. However, that doesn't mean they're a bad pet for everybody, but, they were certainly a bad pet for me.. Every once in a great while I'll think about getting a bird again, but it only takes me a second or two to talk myself out of it..
no animal is boring, but some animals can be bored. each animal is different! it depends on its owner.

but if i had to say, a goldfish.

ooh! how fun is it to watch a yellow fish swim around. they dont even breathe air.
    Umm...

I haven't really owned a lizard before, so I don't know much lol but my friend does...

I think they are utterly boring. All they do is sit! And if you touch them you get hissed at! lol
    ferrets (stinky and creepy)

reptiles like lizards (turtles are good thout)

MONKEYS!! (pee in shoes, eat makeup and bite!)
actaully any pet is okay...i always do alot of research before buying any type of pet ive never had before.often people just buy a pet because its exotic or its cute and never bother to find out just what is involved with proper care and handling...so far ive had dogs, cats, rabbits ,gerbils, tropical as well as coldwater fish

Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?

I saw a post in the Pet section of the craigs list and somebody was giving away a monkey. Are they even legal to have as pets in MA?Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets? Here is the link to the MA goverment, regarding wildlife as pets. To the best of my understanding, owning non-human primates, including monkeys, as pets - is prohibited.

    http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/dfwpets.h鈥?/a>

Aside from domesticated animals (dogs, cats, horses, poultry, livestock, etc), there are only 11 exotic species that are allowed as pets:

    MAMMALS.

    Lawful (no MassWildlife permit required):

Only the following 11 mammals (or groups) may be kept as pets.

    Four-toed (African Pygmy) Hedgehog;

    Chinchilla, derived from captive stock;

    Deer Mouse and White-footed Mouse;

    Degu;

    Egyptian Spiny Mouse;

    House Mouse;

    Jerboas;

    Norway Rat;

    Paca;

    Southern Flying Squirrel;

    Striped Hamster.

Unlawful: All other mammals not listed as domestic. Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets? Not without proper wildlife ownership licensing. Monkeys are not pets, let alone pets to just give away. They are a serious commitment, and very expensive to feed and take to a wild animal vet (which are rare and charge a lot). You also need to spend most of the day, like around 10 hours, with them. Sounds like someone might just be making it up, or is really stupid and unaware of what it takes to own a monkey..Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?First id say that is a scam and not really for free. No one is going to give away a monkey. But if you still want to find out if they are legal or not call your local Fish and Wildlife people they can tell you about the laws in your state.

  • Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?

My 2 year old son loves spiders and I'm thinking about getting him a pet tarantula for his 3rd birthday. They are docile animals and if cared for should make good pets right? Has anyone ever had a pet tarantula and a small child? Which type of tarantula would you recommend?Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids? They are very interesting to watch and some are very beautiful too.

They can make excellent and low maintenence pets, but i wouldnt suggest getting one to handle, especially with a child as young as your son.

Children often do not know their own strength. They can and do kill small animals without even meaning to. As tough as they look, tarantulas are actually very delicate animals. Flinch and drop one of the floor while handling and it'll die.

Even the most docile species can bite, and have a habit of flicking their irritating hairs.

Female tarantulas can live upwards of 20 years though, so getting your son one now would give him a great pet to 'grow up with', but again i wouldnt recommend handling until he is a good few years older.

Chilean rose tarantulas are one of the most common species. They are a non-aggressive species, dont grow particularly large and are relatively easy to care for

http://www.jaysanimalencounters.co.uk/si鈥?/a>Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?
I think it would be fine. We have several hundred tarantulas (we breed them) and our youngest is 2 1/2. He loves looking at them but we don't let him touch or hold them. Too much of a chance of him accidently hurting one, plus we don't want him to get haired. But if you're okay with just letting your son watch the tarantula for now, then you should be fine. But I strongly suggest you don't let him handle it at all.Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?I think it would be okay but he wouldn't be able to handle it simply because spiders are extremely fragile. He might accidentally harm the spider or scare it into biting him. My son began handling our tarantulas when he was much older (I think he was about 8) and now he is a real pro at handling these delicate creatures :)

I would recommend a terrestrial tarantula that is calm in temperment: Chaco Golden Knee (Grammostola Pulchripes), Chilean Rose Hair (Grammostola Rosea), Mexican Red Knee (Brachypelma Smithi), Pink Zebra Beauty (Eupalastrus Campestratus) or Brazilian Black (Grammostola Pulchra).Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?
Tranatula's are very placid. As long as your son is aware that he has to be very gentle with the spider. Personally I think that waiting a few years maybe a good idea.

Not sure what kind of tarantula, but best of luck finding a suitable one.Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?It should be fine as long as you don't leave your son alone with the tarantula and tell him to be gentle.Do tarantulas make good pets for small kids?
haha it should be fine if he likes spiders :) just make sure it dont bite lol

Does the owner of the trailer park have the right to say no pets allowed if I'm buying the trailer?

I want to purchase a really nice trailer in a trailer park, but the park owner has a no pets policy. Can he legally do that if I will own the trailer and be making payments, and the pets I would keep are two cats that never go outside? I realize the land isn't mind, but the trailer itself would be.Does the owner of the trailer park have the right to say no pets allowed if I'm buying the trailer?Yes of course. You do not own the land. Your cats would be on his land, which he has specified is not acceptable. Your property rights can not deny him his rights. You have the right to remove the cats or the trailer itself from his land, but not to force him to have animals on his land.Does the owner of the trailer park have the right to say no pets allowed if I'm buying the trailer?Of course the owner can do as he pleases as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights of others. So yes, the landlord has that right when you sign on a contract. This contract is binding and since you agreed, it's said and done- no pets on *his* property.

The most likely reason behind not having pets is just an issue of liability. What if someone had a pet dog who got out and attacked someone? Since the incident happened on the owner's property, he is liable for the injuries and will have to pay restitution. To insure that he will not have that issue, he has said no pets. If you want a pet, you'll have to go elsewhere where you are liable for your actions, such as purchasing a lot in a park.Does the owner of the trailer park have the right to say no pets allowed if I'm buying the trailer?I would check state and local laws on that one. I could see a "No Dog" policy because they have to be taken out and not every tenant is going to act responsible taking care that their dog is leashed and cleaned up after. I see no reason that you couldn't have cats that are never outside.Does the owner of the trailer park have the right to say no pets allowed if I'm buying the trailer?
Yes, the park landlord has that right. Even though you own the actual trailer, the land on which it sits isn't yours. That gives the landowner the right to impose such restrictions on tenants. I suspect that the landlord has had issues in the past with roaming pets.

I'm pretty sure it's about $100-$150Does anyone know how much puppy vaccinations are at pets at home? The breeder's contract requires you to have the pup seen within 48-72 hours after taking it home, so you can ask at that time. The initial exam will cost you around $200.00, including bloodwork, fecal exam, etc. The breeder would have given their pups their initial vaccinations at the age of 6 weeks.

Would lawn fertiliser kill wild birds? There is a warning of the danger to pets but no mention of birds?

The packaging contains warnings of the potential health hazard to domestic pets. Surly if this product represents a risk to dogs and cats it could also be lethal for birds. I am just seeking clarification on this point before applying the popular gardening product.Would lawn fertiliser kill wild birds? There is a warning of the danger to pets but no mention of birds?Yes, commonly used lawn fertilizers can be quite toxic to wildlife. Many contain insecticides and weed killers. These cause organo-phosphate poisoning, especially in birds who may ingest insects after they've been exposed to these chemicals. These products are very bad news for birds.Would lawn fertiliser kill wild birds? There is a warning of the danger to pets but no mention of birds?Yes, anything that is toxic to household pets is just as dangerous to wild animals. Look online for natural fertilizers such as compost and others like animal manure. Horse manure is very good on gardens. Please don't apply anything with harsh chemicals to you, your animals, or your food sources. Even your house can pose a health hazard if using harsh chemicals for cleaning, so please take some time to look online for more natural products. Thank you for caring!!!Would lawn fertiliser kill wild birds? There is a warning of the danger to pets but no mention of birds? It can be, mainly because birds eat the insects in your garden which can be covered in the toxins which would in turn kill the bird or at least give it diarrhea. and if that bird has to poop its gunna be all over your car

  • Should I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?

I'm thinking about buying a hamster from Pets At Home pretty soon, but I've heard bad things about them, mostly about the Crystal Peaks branch, but the Greenwich Peninsular/Charlton Branch seem to have clean and healthy hamsters. Please help!Should I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?Well, people often object to buying hamsters from Pets at Home because the conditions they are kept in are often cramped and not providing enough exercise and entertainment for hamsters (especially the dwarf varieties, which need lots of space). I can vouch that they often have living quarters too small, however I dont think that simply not buying from the store is a good solution, UNLESS they actually look unhealthy. I feel that buying from the store could be saving and looking after a hamster that could potentially be living there for much longer, and could go to owners who dont look after it at all. People should just put pressure on the pet stores in other ways - by sending letters, signing petitions, and generally letting them know that you expect high quality conditions for the hamsters there.

Obviously it is preferable to buy/ adopt from a rescue centre, but again, check for a healthy hamster, otherwise you will certainly not be able to fully care for it in the long term.

Here is what to look for in a healthy hamster:

    Shiny eyes

Bright glossy fur with no balding patches

No weeping or liquids from the ears, eyes, nose etc..

    Should be plump in size

Should have no irregular lumps on its body

Should be relatively alert and active (when woken up)

You should also choose a private breeder over a store but only after you have judged them yourself. Some just do it for extra money or because they cant control their hamsters - these are often ones which have poor living conditions - look for breeders who really care for their animals, have healthy hamsters and handle them before selling.

The sexing issue where a store incorrectly informs you of the sex, is quite a regular occurance, but it really shouldnt matter too much unless you are keeping more than one animal together, and there is a chance of breeding. Although I would say that males tend to be more docile towards their owner, it really wouldnt make that much of a difference when it comes down to it, and it often relies on personality of the individual hamster anyway.

So I would check out the other options you have of buying in your area, but not worry too much if you do have to end up buying from Pets at Home. and do a health check on any that you are considering. Goodluck :)Should I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?
If there are none at a rescue near you then I think you should, but check in their "adoption centre" for hamsters first.

They DO take care of their pets there, at least at the one near me. They do need a bit more bedding though lol!

The hamsters there arent tame because they dont really have them long enough to tame them, and they need a space to do it, whereas guinea pigs, rats and rabbits can just be held and will stay still, hamsters will climb and when they are untamed will just run. Too dangerous, what if they were taming one and it jumped out their hands, ran under a thing and wasnever found. Wouldnt be pleasant if a customer found it would it?

They do tame their other animals though, which proves they care about the welfare of the animals, beause if they didn't like them, they wouldnt spend timeafter their shifts playing with them eh?

    So go for it!

If you ask a member of staff they should be able to tell you wether the hamster in a particular cage/tank thing is male or female.

Goodluck ;) I got 2 from there, and one developed wet tail about a week later, but I got that treated (i think it was just because of the stress) by the vet and she lived a long healthy life, and I currently have a long haired Syrian from there, and she is living healthily.Should I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?I wouldn't advise it. I rang up a Pets at Home the other day to ask if they had any rats and what gender they were. The guy who answered had a 10 minute discussion with another shop assistant as to whether the rats genitals were 'a guy part' or if girls have one too. So evidently their staff are not very competent :S...

I would, personally, get your new pet from a smaller, independent pet shop. Just type 'pet shop, (your area eg Greenwich)' into Google maps and you can ring round the ones that appear to find the most suitable place. Of course, it is even better to go to a breeder direct but getting them from a small pet shop is almost as good as they usually will source their animals from reputable local breeders. They also usually keep the animals in more suitable living conditions.

Hope I helped :) xxShould I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?
I strongly advise you not to buy pets from pets at home they buy them from breeders who don't care about them and also they don't look after them they obviously have to feed them but they have very little bedding and are often seen curled up in a corner. I would advise getting one from a rescue there are loads of little hamsters needing homes in shelters. If you buy one from pets at home to save it from the pet shop then they will only have to restock with more poor hamsters :(Should I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?why would you even post a question like that on yahoo answers? you should of gone straight to pets at home and got a hamster! iv had 4 hamsters all seperate through the years from their. Hamsters are awesome pets and i dont know if my hamster is the only 1 which does this but it feels so safe that it always falls asleep on me when im watching a dvd and it has lots of cages connected together by tubesShould I Buy A Syrian Hamster From Pets At Home?
