Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?

I heard on the news today that there are 10000 people that have chimpanzees as pets. For many the chimp takes the place of a child. Chimps can grow up to be dangerous, incredibly strong threats as we see in the news. And a chimp will always be wild. Should it be illegal to have a chimp as a pet, especially when the chimp can roam freely in the house or on the street? Why can't these people adopt kids or do volunteer work instead of keeping these dangerous animals as substitutions for kids.Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?Problem with chimps is that they are always raiding your cupboards, eating and drinking literally everything in the fridge and they get angry when you ask them to do something. Other than that they do make good pets if you continually bribe them with bananas and peanuts.Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?
Chimps have no problem killing other chimps and occasionally people.

If there is any reason to own a chimp it must be a status thingy.

Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?Chimpanzees are meant to be wild. They are not pets. I can not stand people who keep Chimpanzees as Pets. For example in Show Business the way they film Chimpanzees talking is by making them eat Peanut Butter, this then sticks to the roof of the mouth and they move their mouth up and down to try and get rid of it, thus making the motion of talking.Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?
Yes it should be illegal. The answer is in the name ..... 'Wild Animals' What part of 'Wild' do some people not understand? These animals are not domesticated not even when human raised from birth. When 'kept' they should be kept in a controlled environment which i don't think is someones home. I think it is because they are so like children that people who can't have kids keep them.Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?I don't think that Chimps should be kept as pets. Even if they are raised by humans since birth they are still wild animals. I think for the safety of people in general it should be illegal to have them as pets.

NO...They are alright in a zoo...not in a home. it's like having a pitbull. they aren;t all that good of a pet. normally they wine up being mistreated and then when they get loose, well we hear on the news what happens next...Should people be allowed to keep chimpanzees as pets?
Chimps are not humans. Nor are they pets. Chimps beign taken care of by non-professionals is a terrible idea for everyone involved. Primates are not pets, EVER.
