Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?

I saw a post in the Pet section of the craigs list and somebody was giving away a monkey. Are they even legal to have as pets in MA?Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?Here is the link to the MA goverment, regarding wildlife as pets. To the best of my understanding, owning non-human primates, including monkeys, as pets - is prohibited.

Aside from domesticated animals (dogs, cats, horses, poultry, livestock, etc), there are only 11 exotic species that are allowed as pets:

MAMMALS.

Lawful (no MassWildlife permit required):

Only the following 11 mammals (or groups) may be kept as pets.

Four-toed (African Pygmy) Hedgehog;

Chinchilla, derived from captive stock;

Deer Mouse and White-footed Mouse;

Degu;

Egyptian Spiny Mouse;

House Mouse;

Jerboas;

Norway Rat;

Paca;

Southern Flying Squirrel;

Striped Hamster.

Unlawful: All other mammals not listed as domestic.Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?Not without proper wildlife ownership licensing. Monkeys are not pets, let alone pets to just give away. They are a serious commitment, and very expensive to feed and take to a wild animal vet (which are rare and charge a lot). You also need to spend most of the day, like around 10 hours, with them. Sounds like someone might just be making it up, or is really stupid and unaware of what it takes to own a monkey..Are monkeys legal in MA to have as pets?First id say that is a scam and not really for free. No one is going to give away a monkey. But if you still want to find out if they are legal or not call your local Fish and Wildlife people they can tell you about the laws in your state.
