I love pets, any sort of pet.
But people get pets as they are babies and think "ohh how cute" and spoil them rotten. Then when they are a year old or less they dont show them any affection, and sometimes dump them off at pound or worse take them for a ride and dont come back with them. I am talking bout mainly cats or dogs...I am sick of it.. these poor animals get used then chucked away.
Why cant people relize that a pet is for life not a year!!!Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults?I volunteer at an animal shelter where over 50% of animals have to be euthanize because no one adopts them. Most of the animals that come in are about a year old. Someone kept them while they were a cute little kitten or puppy and then got tired of them just as they became adults. Unfortunately, now that the animal is an adult it is less likely to be adopted at the shelter because litters of kittens, etc, are coming in also. Also rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, birds, lizards, every pet imaginable gets left at the shelter. Many pets can live 15, 20 years or more, and too many people don't think that far ahead when they buy them. I wish more people would at least look at the animals in the shelter before they go to a pet store and buy one! It's so sad to see young healthy friendly animals get put to sleep for lack of homes. Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults?
Because some people think pets are toys, and they don't want to take responsibility for them. They don't understand that choosing to adopt a pet is a lifetime commitment. Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults? This is a problem where I live because it is a college town. The shelter has new kittens go out in the fall and then come back in the spring. There is always a HUGE influx of animals in the spring when kids graduate and want to go home for the summer, but no one wants to take Fluffy home. In general, people think pet ownership is some kind of right, and they think dogs are cute and don't realize the responsibility involved. Stupidity, really, is the reason. We need more public education about pet ownership, and I think it should start in the schools when they are kids. Otherwise, they become ignorant adults. Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults?
Its the other way around in my house, when the puppies can eat
solid food the get dumped out in the other side of the town. Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults? It's largely due to ignorance, impulse buying, and not thinking things through. Why do families get pets only to dump them when they are adults?
apparently people dont know that animals have feelings and emotions too.
