Where can i get pets in World of Warcraft?

Ive tried the auction house but the pets there are too expensive. If you know where i can get pets for a low price, please let me know. I'm a human warrior by the way. It does not matter if the pets are non combatant. Just companions. Yes, most of the pets on the auction house are pretty expensive. Some of them are very rare though so there is good reason for it. But there are still tons of pets that you can simply and cheaply buy from vendors around the world.

I know that they do randomly drop. I remember back when I was doing Deadmines (VC), pets would sometimes drop off of the main boss, Edward Van Cleef....Pets like parrots or kittens.
