What kind of pigs do people keep as pets?

I know some people have pot belly pigs as pets, but is that the only kind of pig that makes a good pet?



Are pot belly pigs high maintence?



What do they eat?



Are they loving and like to cuddle?



Are they independent and don't mind to be alone sometimes or does being alone make them anxious?

---Unless you have the proper space, other types of pigs are not as good as potbellied pigs for pets.



Are pot belly pigs high maintence?

---Yes, they can be. They are extremely smart and can get into trouble sometimes. The good thing is that they can be housetrained.



What do they eat?

---Fresh fruits/veggies every day, twice a day, and believe it or not, they do make pellets specifically for potbellied pigs. Mazuri is the more common brand in my area.



Are they loving and like to cuddle?

---Depends on the pig, really. The one I take care of LOVES being petted, but if you wrap your arms around him, he gets annoyed.



Are they independent and don't mind to be alone sometimes or does being alone make them anxious?

---Pigs are social creatures and do not like being left alone. Some pigs do well with the dogs in the household. Others prefer their own kind.



And- are pot belly pigs a kind of pig some people eat?

---No....unless the people are really hungry. In some countries, it's possible.



do the kinds of pigs people eat make good pets?

---Usually not. They get HUGE and hard to control. They need larger space than a pot-bellied pig.
