How many pets can you have in an apartment in massachusetts ? My friend just got her 4th cat !!!!!! and she is special needs so she doesnt make much money.... and she lives alone.... I'm worried that the cats are gonna spray all over the appartment, or that she isnt gonna have enough money for herself after taking care of all those cats... What is the LEGALl limit for massachussetts to have animals ???? If you can't find anything call your local animal control office and ask if there is a state or city limit.

Some states have them some do not. Some places it is just a city law. I live in Alabama and our old city had a 3 per home limit.. we just moved and now it is unlimited.

And regardless of the city/state laws, you need to find out if your friend has too many animals per her lease agreement and or landlord limits.

I know where I live and manage tenant properties (Ontario) you can have 4 cats or 2 dog to each person living in the household over the age of 18. Sorry doesn't help with Massachusetts. Phone animal control, they are required to know al current law regarding pets.How many pets can you have ?
In Seattle the limit is four animals inside city limits, not including rodents. They all have to be licensed as well.

As many as you want. But the more you have the more that it will cost. Well actually the limit is about 2 or 3.
I don't know the limit, but talk to your friend, tell her your concerns. Suggest that it would be easier for her and the cats would be happier if there are fewer; the fewer there are the more attention and happiness they can get from her. Also, cats are very territorial. If there are too many cats in too small a space they begin to fight and mark their territory; essentially it isn't good for the cats either if there are too many (this depends on how big the apartment is compared to the # of cats.)
