How do you switch people in Sims 2 Pets for PS2?

I can't seem to figure out how to switch what person in the family that I control in Sims 2 Pets for Playstation 2. Is that possible?How do you switch people in Sims 2 Pets for PS2?im pretty sure you press L2 or R2. they are at the top of the controller just in case you dont know what those buttons are. they will be labled. when you switch to a dog or cat, you cant control them, only watch what they are doing.
