How to keep pets and myself healthy?

If I want to have different pets what are the best types to avoid cross infection. For example if I kept rats and guinea pigs do they have different illness. Because if so I could change the cages over every week to control any potential illness. I already have a cat and rats and don't think they can infect each other or me. Does any human illness spread to pets? How to keep pets and myself healthy? There are plenty of zoonoses (illnesses that transfer from one species to another). They are too numerous for me to list. The closer in type the animals are, the more likely a disease can transfer one to the other.

It's perfectly fine to keep multiple types of pets. Just keep their homes (and yours) clean and free of feces, feed them fresh, healthy food, provide lots of clean water, and separate (quarantine) any ill pets from the rest of the population.
