What are good land turtles for pets?

I just bought a red eared slider, but would also like to get a land tortoise. However, I dont want anything to grow to the size of a small dog. Are there any land turtles available for pets that grow to about the same size of a red eared slider?What are good land turtles for pets?The smallest of the "mediterranean" tortoises would be the Horsfields and you don't need paperwork with them either. An adult female would only get to about 8 inches and male maybe 6inches.
