Do you think people with a lot of pets are crazy?

I have 5 parrots and 3 dogs as pets in the house, I clean constantly but I love all the noise and action. I can't imagine my life without my pets but I wonder if people are starting to think I am really wierd like one of those cat ladies. I also spend alot of money on them and wonder if my priorities are screwed up.Do you think people with a lot of pets are crazy?probably i have 2 horses

It's not their business and if you love pets the way my daughter does, there's nothing wrong as long as they ARE your priority as far as caring for them and you can afford them. Many people never take an animal to the vet and just have more and more pets without proper care. That's not too bad. One time i had 30 hamster in my Studio 1 bedroom apartment. I assume that the 5 parrots are caged. The only pets that take space are the dogs. Having 20 cats or a lot is outrageous because they use the kitty litter or the toilet if potty trained. That is why the cat lady is crazy. If your home smells fine and not too much like a pet store then you are in the clear. Priority from one person to another is different. Is the norm of 2.5 children and a cat and a dog for you? Of course not. If your friends or anybody that visit your home loves your pets and everything is great then why fix a good thing. I dunno about parrots but certain dogs need a lot of attention. Thumbs up to you animal lover.

I don't think people with a lot of pets are crazy. But I'm sure there are people who think so. We can't control others views. I always admire people who do what they love to do. As long as you are not mistreating your pets and you still have a life besides your pets, I think you have a pretty good life.
i don't think your crazy, if i could i would have alot more animal's. i have 2 cats and a dog. you sound like me, this would be a boring world without our pet's.Do you think people with a lot of pets are crazy?
As long as you don't spend more on your pets than on your kids, you're okay....



I'm with you. I love having animals in the house. I lost 4 cats this year - they were elderly and all died of different causes - and the emptiness of my house these days is hardly bearable. I miss them sorely. Laps were meant for babies and cats.

The name for the crazy cat ladies is "animal hoarder" and it is a form of mental illness. What sets them apart from you is that they tend to collect as many animals as they can without any thought to whether they can properly care for them. Their houses are usually dirty and the animals are often suffering from neglect.



So, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
I have people tell me Im crazy and I have them tell me Im a saint.



I wouldn't know what to do with only three dogs.



I had all the dog fosters move out this weekend and I had another on sunday and another on monday and Im taking three more kittens tomorrow.



The dogs do what they are told the kid doesn't. THe dog leaves dog hair Oh boy grab the shop vack the kid leaves dirty clothes candy wraper books and everything else imaginable in the way so I can't shop vac. Ill take the dogs anyday!!!

everyone i know thinks i am mad, even my local pet shop knows me by name and always help me with my shopping...

i have to buy bulk everything, i go throw so much woodchip, hay, dried food and veg...



i like my piggys, rabbit to live in a* homes.

and if that means good clean out every other day.

and as many different fun thing as possible.



i have hutches, runs, and cages

i like them to have fun so they get nearly all my time and house space.



but i really don't mind i love them all so much, and i really don't think i could live with out the little squeaks....



just think if they were not with you, they could be in some house where they were a unwanted Xmas present and have no love.



so its alright to be pet mad, someone has got to love all of these lovely animals.

No I don't believe people who have a lot of pets are crazy, just caring. Everyone is different and have different ideas and needs. Your needs maybe that you love having your pets around you and that's not crazy just a loving person who cares for her animals.



I also a fhave ew pets of my own, 12 chickens, 6 cats, 2 dogs %26amp; 1 parot. It dosn't matter if the animals live inside or out as they all need care, and love. They do take up a lot of time,money and attention from their owners. But the other side of owning pets, even if you have 1 or 50 dosn't matter is that they will love you back, and they are apart of your life, whatever you choice to do or go they will follow.



I had to answer your question as I needed to tell you that 8 years ago I lost my best mate in the world my sister, as she was a great vet and saved lots of animals and re-homed them. She also had her own pets they were strays she had a lot but 1 of her dogs got ill had cancer, she put all her engery and money into that dog and her other animals. She did this so much she went without food and her life needs, worked around the clock to pay for them.



Then one day she decided or whatever was going though her head that she wasn't good enough for her animals so she took her own life to try to save her animals. Sad 2 weeks after her death that dog died of cancer.



Just telling you that do not let the animals take over your life, as its not worth it. The most important person needs to be yo, as your pets need you and you cannot take care of others if you go down hill.



As life is also about learning as I am aware of the stress that pets can have on owners, even wilt all my pets that I love.



They also are trained to know that they will not take over my life or house, just like my children. If I didn't set out the rules and boundry's my house,life would be a mess. Then I would be not able to care for my family, pets and hope.



I needed to tell you as life is to short for all this stress and hope this answered your question.
