I would like to know these as soon as possible so it would be greatly apprechiated if you could answer these and maybe give me like the website that you got it from. ALSO, im talking about pets in general when i said animals. I would like to know about either dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, or rodents. If you do give me these answers or if you just read this, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!What are some disease that animals like pets die from, and what are the statistics on deaths from that diseaseSome times a female dog will get breast cancer if she has so many litter of puppies they even get AIDS for sleeping around with other dog, cats, etc. Cancer there is some other ones but I forgotWhat are some disease that animals like pets die from, and what are the statistics on deaths from that diseaseThere are a lot of different illnesses that can effect domestic aniamls and cause death. I don't know statitics, but I can give you a short run down of the most common pet killers...

Dogs: Heartworm would probably be #1; they can also get bronchiitis, which can be fatal (bordatella); and as the above poster said, unspayed female dogs can and do get ovarian %26amp; breast cancer, and unneutered male dogs can develop testicular cancer %26amp; prostitis. Old age dog killers is usually some form of cancer, larger dogs tend to get bone cancer, while smaller breeds usually end up with lung or other internal organs getting cancer.

Cats: There is a condition in cats known as "feline AIDS" - FIV, feline immunodefieciency virus. There is no cure, and it is fatal. FIP, and FELV are 2 other cat-only contagious diseases. Most of these conditions usually occur in poor-kept, outdoor, wild, or stray cats. Cats can also suffer from kidney failure - a frequent domestic cat killer; and hyperthyroidism can have long-term ill effects on many older cats.

Ferrets: I think the #1 killer of ferrets is a disease of their adrenal gland. The name escapes me at the moment, but it is a common common ferret problem that they develop as they hit their old age (5 years for a ferret; they usually only live to be 7 or 8).

Birds: I guess in domestic birds psiticchosis is a concern - it's a bacterial infection that is zoonotic (transmissable to humans); but it's not very common. I think the #1 killer of house-birds would probably be smoke inhalation. Birds have very very weak respiriatory systems, and the fumes from indoor cooking, certain non-stick sprays, over cleaners, potpourri, air sprays, and carpet %26amp; furniture cleaners can be fatal to most birds.

Rodents: I would have to say that biggest problem in rats %26amp; hamsters is cancer, while mice it is probably going to be a lung infection from their bedding.

I am sure if you do a search for any of these animals, you will find a much better listing of common diseases.
